The Genesee Valley Greenway is a green corridor running approximately 84 miles from Rochester south through Scottsville, Avon, Geneseo, Mount Morris, and Portageville. The trail parallels the Genesee River, following to former paths of the Genesee Valley Canal and Railway, the remains of which, including an old canal lock are still visible in places along side the trail.
While you can access the trail every couple of miles where it crosses a road, there are a also several convenient parking areas, including from North to South:
- Genesee Valley Park
- Park in Scottsville, on Route 251 south of Main street at Oatka Creek
- Fishing access lot in Avon, on Rt 20 on the west bank of the Genesee Rv.
- York Landing, south of Avon off River Rd.
- Parking Lot on Route 36 Main St. about 1 mile south of the Genesee River
